Hey, Iā€™m Kayleigh!

I grew up in the woods on the ancestral lands of Potawatomi, Ojibwe, Odawa, Miami and Ho-Chunk nations on the fringes of rural Chicagoland. I currently live on the ancestral lands of Nisqually, Coast Salish, Cowlitz and Squaxin nations in Olympia, Washington.

I just wrapped up my Masters of Environmental Science at Evergreen State College. My research interests are heavily focused in ecology, biodiversity, and conservation of birds. Currently, I work as a research assistant on a project for Bornean bird conservation. I also work as a scientific technician at Evergreen State College, assisting undergraduate students in the natural sciences.

I received my Bachelor of Fine Art in Printmaking from the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. I was introduced to the study of birds through an ornithology course during my undergraduate studies and started working in the bird collection at the Field Museum shortly after. I have been chasing birds ever since!

Nights and weekends I try to work with my hands as much as possible. I screen print and paint from my home studio. I dig camping, bird watching, mischief, pretty much any and every critter, copious amounts of tea, old illustrations, bodies of water, intricate work, and the open road.
